Madie Wilson Obituary

Mrs. Mable Wilson, the daughter of the late John Dejarnette and Gillie Brandon, was born June 14, 1922 in Rockingham County North Carolina.

She professed her life to Christ at Bluestone Baptist Church, then in later years moved her membership to Disciples of Christ Holiness Church in Danville, VA. For 63 years, she was an active member until her health declined. She was then able to make it to some of the services. She was an active member of the Mother Board and Senior Choir. As a mother she didn’t get up to tell you about yourself, she took you aside and talked to you.

She was united in marriage to Rufus McKinley Wilson in 1936. She was a homemaker and a sitter for seniors and assisted them as well. On Sunday morning we could not wait for fried chicken, gravy and those homemade biscuits. She enjoyed fishing but didn’t eat them. She enjoyed watching T.V. including: “The Price is Right”, “Walker Texas Ranger”, “Family Feud” and wrestling. She also enjoyed talking on the telephone. She loved to praise the Lord and would read her little bible several times a day.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons: William Rufus Wilson of Reidsville and Conrad Wilson (Jatana) of Greensboro; six daughters: Catherine Day of Stoneville, Shirley Hairston of Ruffin, Joy Walker of Pelham, Doretha Frierson of Washington D.C., Alice Clark of Ruffin and Mary Wilson of Pelham; two sisters: Loreen Hairston of Reidsville and Ruth Hairston of Eden; forty grandchildren, seventy four great grandchildren, fifty one great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her children: Wilbert Wilson, Robert Wilson, Shelby Gene Noble and Herbert Lee and siblings: William Lockaway, Allen Dejarnette, Calvin Dejarnette, Robert Dejarnette, Willie Dejarnette, George Dejarnette and Mattie Mcadden.
