Dorothy Mae (Thompson) Pettiford

Dorothy “Rudy” Mae Pettiford, 59, passed away on June 5, 2020 at Durham Regional Medical Center. She was born in Person County to the late Doc Robert Thompson and Maggie Lucille Evans Thompson.

She was a line cook with Aramark. She enjoyed cooking and singing. She loved catering to her son, nieces, nephews and grandkids.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son: Dominique Thompson (Ken) of Durham, four grandchildren, one brother: Terry Thompson (Yolanda) of Durham, six sisters: Pastor Nannie Farmer (Lee) of Milton, Queenie McCain (James) of Danville, Frances Barnett (Willie) of Roxboro, Peggy Allen of Durham, Barbara Barrett of Roxboro and Stephanie Edwards of Roxboro, one aunt: Shirley Thompson of Rocky Mount, Virginia, a caregiver: Debbie Barnett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Thompson Jr.
