It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Earl Carlton Jeffries, Sr., of Yanceyville, NC on June 11, 2024. He was 82 years old. Earl departed peacefully surrounded by family at Sovah Health in Danville, VA.
"Sometimes it's hard to understand why things have to be, but in His wisdom, God has planned beyond power to see. God watched as you suffered, He saw you had your share. So, He gently closed your eyes and took you in His care."
Earl Carlton Jeffries, Sr., born April 13th, 1942, in Blanch, NC, is the second oldest of eight children born to the late Lawson and Edna Williamson Jeffries. He professed his love and commitment to Jesus Christ at an early age where he joined Hamer Missionary Baptist Church and was a member in the Community Chorus. He attended Caswell County Schools and Piedmont Technical Institute. Earl was a decorated veteran in the US Army who served in the Vietnam War before being Honorably Discharged and receiving a Purple Heart. He was also a supervisor at Hanover Mills. Throughout his life, Earl had a love for farming and often could be found on a tractor, in a pig pen, or garden.
He was united in marriage to Diana Lynn Slade Jeffries and they raised two sons, Everette J. Jeffries and David Houston Slade. Later he was married to Ethel Harrelson Jeffries and to that union a son, Earl C Jeffries, Jr. was added to his family. Everette and David preceded him in death as well as two brothers, Lawson Jeffries Jr. and Bernard A. Jeffries.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son Earl Jr. of Durham, NC, three sisters, Effie J. Graham of New York, NY, Mildred J. Hughes of Milton, NC, and Carolyn J. Woodard of Walkertown, NC, two brothers, Theron D. Jeffries (Sandra) of Yanceyville, NC and James S. Jeffries (Marva) of Blanch, NC, and one sister-in-law, Martha M. Jeffries (Lawson), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. and caregivers.
The family will receive visitors at the home of Theron and Sandra Jeffries at 5299 Old NC Highway 86 N, Yanceyville, NC 27379
