Ella Mae Stanfield-Hines (formerly McCain) was the second of eleven children born to the late Henry McCain and Betty Ann Wilkerson McCain on March 18, 1932 in Semora, NC. On June 21, 2022, Ella Mae transitioned to Heaven.
Growing up with her parents and siblings, Ella Mae attended school in Semora, NC. As a young adult, she relocated to Philadelphia, PA where she married Sewell Stanfield and started a family.
Ella Mae and her family later relocated to Newburgh, NY. She became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Newburgh, serving proudly on the Usher Board. She provided daycare services for children in her home. She also took on a job as a facilities management service employee from which she retired after 25 years of service.
Ella Mae was briefly married to George Hines before moving to Capitol Heights, MD to live with her daughter in 1998. In recent years, her health gradually declined from the affects of Alzheimer's.
Ella Mae leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Tony Stanfield (Wanda) of Danville, VA and James Stanfield (Janice) of Poughkeepsie, NY; two daughters, Vicki Robinson-Haynes (Eric) of Capitol Heights, MD and Valerie Stanfield-Holmes (Melvin) of Waldorf, MD; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one god-daughter; four sisters, Mabel Crawley and Janice Garland, of Baltimore, MD, Kate Shirley Drummond of Richmond, VA, Linda Stewart of Semora, NC; one brother, Bobby McCain of Semora, NC; and a host of family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Betty Ann McCain; and brothers, Jack, Melvin, Franklin, Vann and James McCain.
