Gary "Walcott" Lamont Graves entered eternal life at the age of 68, on Monday, February 7, 2022, at SOVAH Health in Danville, Virginia.
Gary was born on December 23, 1953, and he is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Reynolds Wilson (Albert); a very loving aunt, Ida Bell Graves White; his siblings: Neal Keith Loney, Stephanie Jackson, Gerald Quincy Loney and Kirk Loney; a host of devoted cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Louvenia Graves Loney; father, Cornelius Loney; brothers, Anthony Jerome Loney and Calvin Loney; his daughter, Keisha Dwan Johnson; his sister-in-law Phyllis Loney; his nephew, Marco Loney; his grandparents, Lillie Mae and Sylvester Graves; as well as other loving aunts and uncles, including Annie Mabel Graves.
Gary was educated in Danville Public Schools and dedicated many years working for Southern Processors, Incorporated. He was fondly known as Walcott, a nickname given to him by his maternal grandfather, Sylvester. His grandfather gave him the moniker due to his likeness of the professional boxer, Jersey Joe Walcott. While he was known to have somewhat of a powerful punch as a youth, he chose not to be a formidable fighter but rather display a composed humbleness to those who knew him best. He will always be remembered as our affectionate, willful, high-spirited and confident Walcott.
