Gary Thompson Sr.

Our Beloved one, Gary Neal Thompson Sr. was called to his eternal home on Sunday May 26, 2024

Gary was born in Danville Va. To the late Wille Ed Thompson and Adella Gwyn Thompson. At an early age he joined River Zion Baptist Church and his love for Christ grew stronger throughout his life. Gary attended Caswell County public schools and graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School 1970. He continued to Guilford Technical Community College to become a certified automotive Mechanic. Gary owned and operated several automotive shops in Greensboro NC. He eventually retired from FedEx as a Land to Air Cargo Freight Manger.

Gary enjoyed old school muscle cars and spent a lot of time at the drag strips. Driving was one of his biggest passions always ready and available to take a trip; Whether it was to visit family or to hang out at the beach or in mountains. You look up and he was there with a huge smile behind that signature full beard and brim hat.

He leaves to uphold and cherish his memories his son, Gary Neal Thompson Jr. of Yanceyville NC. A sister Julia Teen Wilhoite of Yanceyville NC and a special friend Cynthia Richmond of Providence NC; a nephew DeChaine Harris; great nieces, great nephew, and a host of family; along with, many friends.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved sister Ella Lorene Clements.
