Geraldine (Gunn) Wharton

Geraldine Etta Wharton, also known as "Sugar" to family and friends passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the age of 87 surrounded by family.

Geraldine was born in Caswell County to the late Pearl Gunn Wharton and Lewis Wharton Sr. After graduating, she left North Carolina to make New York City her home, where she lived for sixty five years. After her health continued to decline, she returned home at 604 Kemper Road in Danville, Virginia. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving son Jerome Wharton, a dear sister in law Willie Ester Wharton, a loving nephew Marlon Vincent Wharton and an angel 11 day old Brandan Isaiah Lee Jr. 

She is survived by her brother Lewis A. Wharton, daughter Lorri Ann Wharton Massey; grandchildren: Phillip (Ginger), Christopher and Toni Wharton great grandchildren: Trevon (Orfania), Megan (Brandon), Morgan (Michael) and Zyanah; great great grandchildren: A'mere and Kataleya; nephews: Brian Keith Wharton and Michael Wharton; niece Gail (Jimmy) Cartleges; her good friend and neighbor Elizabeth Bess of Brooklyn, NY as well as a loving group of family and friends.
