Joe MacArthur Jones
Obituary
On May 28, 2022 Joe MacArthur Jones departed this life for Eternal Rest after lengthy illness.
He was born to the late Valeria Harris Jones and Jimmy Jones of Pittsylvania County Virginia. He being the 12th of 13 children all preceded him death.
He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Schools and retired as a farmhand. He was a member of the Hopel Chapel Baptist Church in Dry Fork, Virginia under the leadership of the late Rev. Delaware Clark.
He enjoyed attending church, dancing, singing and talking about the Lord as he quoted Bible scriptures, Psalm 23 being his favorite.
Joe never met a stranger always welcoming you into his life with open arms. He was married and both preceded him in death leaving him two stepsons. He leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews.
Joe was the last of his generation, always reminding everyone of his favorite song and singing it to you at opportunity: "When you here of my homegoing, don't worry about me, just another soldier on my way home."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Richardson Jones, sisters: Annie M. Russell, Elizabeth Law, Betty L. Jones, Loretta Womack, Patrice Green, Jerald Prewitt and Julia Lipscomb and his brothers: Daniel Jones, Calvin Jones and Avery Jones.
