On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, God sent home his angel, beloved mother, sister , grandmother and friend.
Myrtle Johnson Richmond transitioned from labor to rest at SOVAH Danville, Virginia. She was born on October 14, 1933 in Caswell County, NC to the late Brown and Ellen Johnson.
Myrtle worked for Caswell County Social Service for many years and was also a foster parent. She later worked as a housekeeper at a local hotel franchise.
Myrtle accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a member of Sweet Gum Grove Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed attending until her health declined. She enjoyed baking and tending to her flowers in her garden.
In June of 2017, Miss Myrtle was sent from her home to Cone Health Hospital Burlington onto Brian Center Nursing Home in Yanceyville. She never entered back her home. Her daughter Regina, made sure she took her there several times to see her home and she remembered. She always said to her daughter when was she going back home. But regardless of all circumstances, Regina took with her mother until she passed.
Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory: her late husband: Clarence Leon Richmond, one daughter: Regina Richmond of Danville, Virginia, one grandson: Charles Curry of Danville, Virginia, one great grandson: Jeremiah Elijah Curry; three sisters: Mattie Long (Joseph) of Blanch, North Carolina, Louise Glass of Burlington, North Carolina and Hattie Mae Newby of Leasburg, North Carolina; one aunt: Nannie Moore Johnson of Leasburg, North Carolina, one sister in law: Katherine Johnson of Leasburg, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Eugene Johnson and Earl Johnson and one sister: Marie Long and an aunt Hallie Faulkner.
