It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Nancy Skylor Rusciano, who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident on September 14, 2024. Known affectionately as "Sky," she was born on May 7, 1978, in Newport News, Virginia, and made her home in Mebane, North Carolina.
Sky was a devoted nurse specialist with Durham County Public Health, tirelessly advocating for the well-being of her community. Her vibrant spirit and passion for dance and music brought joy to everyone she met. A warm-hearted friend, she genuinely cared for others and touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion. As an avid dog lover, Sky cherished her furry companion, Sebastian, who brought her immense comfort and joy.
She was also a devoted aunt, daughter, and sister, leaving behind her loving mother, Sue U. Rusciano; her father, William A. Rusciano, and his family in Kentucky; and her older sister, Leanna Carter, her husband Anthony, and their three children, Mia, Domenick, and Madison—all of whom will carry the cherished memory of their "KyKy" in their hearts. A celebration of Sky’s life will be held on September 25, 2024, at Blackwell Funeral Home in Burlington, NC from 1-5 PM. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory. In her honor, please wear colorful clothing. Sky, you will be dearly missed and forever loved. You were, and always will be, magic personified.
