Queen sadly left us on May 29th, 2023 at the age of 67 following a decline in health.
Born Queen Esther Long on October 27th, 1955 to the late
Junious and Martha Pinchback Long, she was the youngest of their children.
Queen was a 1974 graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School. She later obtained an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Piedmont Community College. She worked at Caswell County Section 8 Housing for more than 20 years before retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings
James Junious "Bubba" Long, Janie Lee Long Abel, Robert Earl Long as well as
Mary, Martha, and Lessie Mae that died at a very young age;
and one niece, Amy Mae Adams.
She is survived by her one and only child, Cherilyn Standfield;
one granddaughter, Canon Steele, who affectionally calls her "Grammy";
one brother, Joe Louis Wright; one sister-in-law, Joann Long; one nephew, James M. Long; one niece, Delores Renea Long; and cousins who love her dearly.
